H. de Roos - The critique of the toronto exhibition |
The Struggle
For Information Could you please send me more detailed information
about the background of the donation and the origin and quality of the
plasters? What about the critique by the Musée Rodin, the plasters
coming from the Rudier Foundry were "spoiled" or
"ruined"? Has there been any further communication and/or
expert assessment, to clarify the critique from Paris? (...) Still I think that supplying full information
about the background of the donation and the provenance of the plasters
as soon as possible would support the cause of this planned symposium,
as already discussed telephonically. Could you please send me copies of the dossiers produced by Dr David Schaff and Ms Mary Reid in June 2000 and presented to the Musée Rodin upon their request - if they contain more in-depth information than the plain inventory list already sent out to the invited speakers? I am especially interested to see the complete provenance line of the single plasters and how the Maclaren experts assess their quality in detail.(...) [From: Letter to Catherine Campbell, Project
Coordinator, MacLaren Art Centre, 12 Oct. 2001]
