In preparation for the October Grand Reopening, the Walters Art
Museum will close all but Hackerman House, the museum's Asian art
galleries, for five months beginning May 1, 2001, to complete the
$24-million renovation to the Centre Street Building.
On www.thinker.org, the WAG is
mentioned as an owner of a full-size Thinker cast. Kirsten Lavin, Public
Relations Coordinator, informed me that this cast was deaccessioned to the
University of Louisville (see there) and that the WAG owns two other
Rodin's: Death of Adonis and Cupped Hands.

The Ryda and Robert H. Levi Sculpture Garden and the Alan and Janet
Wurtzburger Sculpture Garden feature sculpture by artists from Auguste
Rodin to Ellsworth Kelly, from Alexander Calder to Tony Smith.
As we learn from the
museumshop.com list, one of the original bronze casts of Rodin's The Kiss
resides at The Baltimore Museum of Art.
