Albert R. and Elizabeth Beardsley commissioned architect E. Hill Turnock to design and build Ruthmere in 1908. The house, furnished in French style and reflecting the lifestyle of an affluent midwestern family, was restored by the Beardsley Foundation between 1969-1973.

"The fine arts collection includes sculpture by Auguste Rodin, Charles Russell, Antoine-Louis Barye, and William Ordway Partridge."
