This Museum, the most important Greek Art institution, has been in operation, in its present form, since 1976. The actual founding of the institution dates back to 1900, or even 1834.

The Museum holds works by Picasso, Dayer, Magritte, Brauner, Modigliani and others as well as Rodin's statue The Prodigal Son.
